HEARING DOGS for DEAF PEOPLE

Hearing Dogs for Deaf People is the only charity in the UK dedicated to training dogs to alert severely and profoundly deaf people to everyday household sounds. The trained hearing Dogs offer greater independence, confidence and security by alerting their deaf owners to sounds like the doorbell and telephone and to danger signals as a smoke or fire alarm. These dogs also provide warmth in companionship and help to break down the barriers and isolation that many deaf people experience.

The Headquarters for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People is in Buckinghamshire but it has branches throughout the country and this site is devoted to the activities of The South Hampshire Branch.

South Hampshire Branch are mainly concerned with Fundraising and this also helps to spread the word about Hearing Dogs to the public at large.

Members of the branch consist of Hearing Dog Recipients, Puppy Socialisers, Volunteers and Supporters.

We all attend many events and hold collection days throughout the year at various venues within the local area. These efforts are to raise the much needed funds towards the training of all the puppies that are required for those deaf and hard of hearing people who need the help and support from these very clever dogs.

We are always looking for more people, who could spare a couple of hours a month, to join our dedicated group, so if you would like to help us with the collections or at the many shows we attend we would love to hear from you. Please do contact Joint Secretary Chris - details on the Contacts page.
